The Serrania de Cuenca
The Serrania de Cuenca is one of the most beautiful and best preserved limestone Spain. It is quintessential, one of the biggest Spanish mountains.

Located north of the province of Cuenca and the southern Turel, Castilla La Mancha. It is one of the natural surroundings of more significance for ecology. It consists of a set of structural platforms and folds, through which flow the rivers Tajo, Júcar, Cabriel and its tributaries. The result of this action have been carved stones river magically by nature, deep gorges and valleys, separated by tables covered moors and pine and holm, where erosion has carved karst forms and surprising places, like Las Torcas (where geological beauties, natural subsidence and fabulous unusual gaps) or the Enchanted City, both in the vicinity of Cuenca.

The Highlands includes the Natural Park of the Cuenca mountains where there are many natural areas to meet, and you can even camp in it. The fauna of the Serrania de Cuenca is quite abundant and varied, more in 1973 after the establishment of a national game reserve. This population grew wild boar, mouflon and Croze. There are also goats, vultures, raptors, bears, wolves, vertebrates, birds, fish and mammals. The flora includes several species of pine, juniper forests, willow, linden, holly and hazel in the wetter areas. The poplar, oak and elm were introduced by humans in the areas of improved access. The highest part of the Sierra, is made up of large coniferous forests.

The range of services offered by the Serrania de Cuenca is excellent. There are a variety of cottages, country hotels, restaurants (where you can taste typical local cuisine) and a wide variety of activities and attractive places for tourism.

The Serrania de Cuenca is an ideal place for Nature Tourism (an option for man to return to nature) because it has an infrastructure to do so throughout the year. It has recreational areas in the mountain sports or adventure tourism (mountaineering, hiking, horseback riding, mountain Bick, paragliding, etc.) Comprehensive training camps about the nature, called Classroom in nature, sprung a program of environmental education and farm houses in which they live with everyday tasks in rural areas.

The magical and unique ways of limestone along the beautiful natural environment and landscape of the Sierra de la Cuenca, invites to be discovered and explored every corner because they hide in the most wonderful mysteries.
