
Machu Picchu is one of the most stunning areas of Peru and undoubtedly, one of the corners of the country you should not miss. It is a place of great beauty, not surprisingly, the Machu Picchu was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983, and in 2007 was named one of the wonders of the World.
Its name comes from Quechua and means “Old Mountain”, a place where history blends with the landscape, creating a very special environment.
Getting there
To get to Machu Pichu, you can do this in two ways:
* By train: The train ride is the easiest way to get to Machu Picchu. The trip takes three hours and forty minutes or at most 4 hours, depending on the type of train.
* Walk through the Inca Trail, especially recommended for lovers of trekking. Be prepared, because it can last from 2 to 5 days. Sure, it’s the best way to enjoy nature as well, landscapes and the unique beauty of this place. By the way, you have to spend a day in height zone to get used to the differences, something that the body is quite noticeable. The route begins at kilometer 88 of the railway to the Valley of the Convention, and are 39.6 miles to reach the shrine.
Now, you decide how to get there. Once there, be sure to see the solar observatory, the Caretaker’s House, the Casa del Inca and the Temples. And, since you are in this area, it is advisable to make a stop in the town of Aguascalientes.
And above all, a tip: take your camera because you will see places that are left with their mouths open.
