munichFranz Josef Strauss Airport is located approximately 40km from the city of Munich, and if you do not have a car, the best way to get to downtown, taking into account the price and duration of travel is by train Urban (S Bahn).

The ticket can be bought inside the airport in a sales window (the person who took care of us knew how to speak English fluently, and also people who attended the information office). You have to take the S1 or S8, and the name of the central train station in Munich’s Hauptbahnhof. The trip takes about 40 minutes, before boarding the train is necessary to validate the ticket, sealing the machines found on the platforms.

One way ticket: 7.40 €.
Ticket round trip: 13 €

To get from one place to another within the city, we use the U-Bahn (metro), and sometimes the S Bahn, and the truth that is a very fast moving.
The € 2.20 single ticket out, but if you have several trains take you thought, you can get the 1-day ticket, which runs 5 € and you can ride all day (the ticket does not include all areas, nor S Bahn trains, but used to visit all the populated areas of the city). U Bahn schedule is 4:15 a.m. to 1:30 a.m..

Having been less than 2 days in this city, we can not give much advice on all the places you can visit, but there are 2 things that we are highly recommended:

Dachau concentration camp:
How to get to Dachau? From Munich, the trip to get to Dachau is about 45 minutes. Here you have to take the S Bahn, line S2 Peterhausen direction and get off at “Dachau.” There you take the bus 724 or 726 to exit the train station. Both will leave a few meters of the field. Only the tourists continue to come, there’s no need to ask!
The entrance to the camp is free, but if you want an audio guide you have to pay around € 2, which is highly recommended if you do not have a tour guide because you will miss many important historical data.

The Oktoberfest lasts 16 days and the date varies slightly from year to year, but is about the last week of September until the first week of October (in 2009 will be from 19 September to 4 October).
If you travel to Munich at this time you have to keep in mind that it is very difficult to find accommodation, so there is something to be planned in advance.
The farm where the festival takes place is huge, and many people attend, so the best way to go is by public transport:
-S1 or S8: Stop Hackerbruecke;
-U3 or U6: Stop or Poccistrasse Goetheplatz
-U4 or U5: Stop Theresienwiese or Schwanthaler Höhe

The party starts in the morning, around 9 or 10am, and runs until approximately 22.30, so it is good to try to arrive early, or how late at about 17 hours.

The price of beer is 9 € per liter, but it’s worth every penny! The richest of all in our view (although we could not test all hehe), was HB (Hofbräu).
