The Côte d’Azur, or the French Riviera is one of the most glamorous places for south of France holidays. Saint-Tropez is an internationally-known seaside resort for the rich and famous where tourism is the main industry. Still, in some aspects, Saint-Tropez remains a small fishing village, with the harbor home to both extravagant sailing ships and traditional fishing boats.
With the harbor home to the largest concentration of pleasure boats in the Mediterranean and masts sprouting from yachts in the sparkling sapphire water, visiting the harbor is a simple pleasure which seems long forgotten by all but a few tourists. Most people are too busy watching the rich sipping champagne on the decks of their yachts to notice the water itself.
People watching is a favorite activity for people on south of France holidays. In the summer, tourists and A-listers alike sit at the outdoor cafés hoping either to be seen or to see someone else, that is if one doesn’t mind shelling out €5 for an espresso. In addition to pleasure boating and people watching, the beaches are a huge draw.
The beaches stretch between St. Tropez and Ramatuelle for more than 4 kilometers and are dotted with famous clubs and restaurants. At night, the clubs don’t open late and the partying goes on until dawn. Celebrity spotting is frequent but be warned, you’ll pay very high prices at these clubs. Saint-Tropez really isn’t that much more expensive than the other internationally known glamorous places for south of France holidays
Finding somewhere affordable to stay in St Tropez isn’t easy, but if you book far enough in advance you’ll be able to find accommodations. The smaller ed and breakfasts are generally much more affordable than the hotels. July and August are the best months to visit Saint-Tropez, but the town is extremely crowded during these months.
